NSST Sasebo is located in the ATG spaces of the Sasebo Maintenance and Training Facility (Bldg 480).
Directions
Building 480 is on the Tategami Peninsula area of the naval base. A key landmark is McDonald’s Restaurant. Building 480 is approximately 150 to 200 yards seaward of McDonald’s and on the opposite side of the street. Upon arriving at the building, take the elevator or stairs to the 4th floor. Cut across the rooftop parking area in an 11 o’clock direction and enter the door. This is the ATG section of the facility.

Notes
- The ATG spaces have male and female head facilities and a break room that has two vending machines (cold drinks including coffee and snacks). A third vending machine with sodas is just inside the door leading from the parking area.
- Within an easy walk of Building 480 are additional dining options. McDonald’s is about a five minute walk from the building. A short block past McDonald’s is the Galaxies which has several restaurants. A block past the Galaxies heading towards the main gate is the NEX Food Court.
- It is about a ten minute walk from the main gate to Building 480. Along this route is the commissary, NEX, Fleet Landing (MWR Office), NEX Food Court, barber ship, Laundromat, Galaxies, and McDonald’s.
- The CFAS Welcome Center is across the street from McDonald’s. There are two banks including a Navy Federal Credit Union inside the Welcome Center with exterior ATM machines.
- Taxi service: during the weekdays, the main on base taxi stand is adjacent to McDonald’s. This location shifts to across from the NEX on the weekends.
- For traveling instructors, the Chisun Grand Sasebo hotel is near the base (about a 15 minute walk to the main gate). The hotel has excellent facilities (lobby restaurant, coin laundry, vending machines). There is a power outlet and LAN connection port in the front of the desk in each room. A LAN cable and outlet adapter (1-to-3) can be found in the desk drawer. The quickest walking route to the base is as follows: once outside the hotel turn right and go to the end of the block, go right for one block to the river, turn left and walk to the Albuquerque Bridge (pedestrians only), cross the bridge and cut through the Nimitz Park recreational facility, turn left outside the park and walk one block, cross the large street at the light, turn right and walk one block to the main gate.
